Small Scale Exhibition

R.B. Stevenson Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition “Small Scale” featuring paintings by San Diego artist Wayne Hilton and Sculpture by San Diego artist Jeff Irwin.
The exhibition opens with a reception for the artists Saturday August 19, from 5 to 8 pm. and will remain on view through September 16, 2023. Gallery will be open at 1pm for early viewing.
Jeff Irwin artworks came from a desire to make objects that speak to how humans impact nature. They are all either physically, visually or emotionally fragile, alluding to the concept that nature is fragile. The framed clay works represent specimens under glass that you might find in the natural history Museum while the white sculptures represent trophies that you may also find at the natural history Museum or some hunters den. The framed double shadow works represents the fleeting moments that shadows of nature move across our world of sidewalks and concrete. I often make an initial series of small works to develop special techniques as well as constructing a visual and conceptual language that each subsequent body of work can utilize to create larger works.
