Summer Cool Down: Breathwork & Sound Healing

Looking for Breathwork classes in La Jolla? Summer has arrived and with it, so has a whirlwind of activities for most of us in San Diego! We tend to hit the ground running each day in the heat of the season, and life feels busier than ever. There comes a point when your body and mind need to chill out and rejuvenate.
Led by Jeny Dawson and Kathleen Rafaat, this two hour multi-sensory experience combines breathing exercises and sound healing to help you slow down, quiet your mind, and cool down your body to help you enjoy life with a new awareness.. The class will incorporate gentle movements to release tension, soothing breath techniques to calm the mind, essential oils to enhance the experience, and sound meditation to recalibrate.
Kathleen will teach the ancient art of pranayama, learned in India from her guru, Master Mohanty, and certified by Himalayan Knowledge Institute. Pranayama is the conscious act of inhalation, retention and exhalation, giving you the power to develop a steady mind, strong will power and good judgment. It readies and opens the mind for meditation, along with improving the circulatory and respiratory systems. It is believed that by elongating the breath, we can live longer.
Jeny will integrate sound vibration using alchemy crystal singing bowls during the breathwork to deepen your sensory experience, and influence brain-wave frequencies by sonic entrainment. The session will conclude with a 30 minute sound healing journey utilizing gongs, drums, and chimes, providing an immersive, full-body listening experience to restore harmony and balance.

It’s suggested to bring a yoga mat or you can rent one from the studio. There are blankets and bolsters that will be setup for you upon arrival. You are welcome to bring additional props for comfort such as an eye pillow to limit distractions.
