Get ready for a tail-wagging afternoon to kick off summer as the La Jolla Mutt Strut & Scavenger Hunt returns to La Jolla Village on Saturday, June 20, from 11 AM to 2 PM. Register HERE to reserve your spot.
This free, family-friendly event invites dog lovers, local families and visitors alike to explore the Village with their pups while discovering local businesses, collecting clues, solving puzzles and winning prizes along the way. Whether you have a tiny rescue dog, a giant doodle or simply love spending time around happy dogs and great people, Mutt Strutt is one of La Jolla’s most joyful community traditions.
Participants will stroll throughout the Village stopping at participating businesses to search for hidden letters and clues. Once completed, guests solve the scavenger hunt puzzle for a chance to win prizes and giveaways. Along the route, expect treats for both humans and dogs, surprise giveaways, photo opportunities and plenty of opportunities to shop, dine and explore La Jolla’s beautiful coastal Village.
Mutt Strutt is presented by La Jolla Loves Pets Foundation and is designed to celebrate not only pets, but also the businesses and community spirit that make La Jolla such a special destination. The event encourages visitors to wander through the Village, discover new shops and restaurants and spend the afternoon enjoying everything La Jolla has to offer.
This year’s event also supports an incredible cause. Proceeds benefit A Way Home for Dogs, the nonprofit founded by Babs Fry, the 2025 San Diego Remarkable Woman known throughout the region for helping reunite lost dogs with their families. Through tireless volunteer work, social media outreach and boots-on-the-ground rescue efforts, Babs has helped countless missing pets safely return home across San Diego County. Eighty percent of event proceeds directly support her nonprofit’s work.
Want your dog to become La Jolla-famous? Guests can also enter their pup into the “Top Dog ’26” contest for a chance to win a street banner displayed in La Jolla Village throughout next November. It’s the ultimate local celebrity moment for one lucky dog.
The event begins at Sotheby’s Plaza and participants are encouraged to bring comfortable shoes, water, cameras and, of course, leashed dogs ready for adventure. Families, kids, locals and visitors are all welcome.
