The rain has been getting in the way of our schedule since the goal is to always walk to our eating establishments. A little rain doesn’t scare us but a deluge is another thing. But, we finally got out to enjoy some traditional Mexican comfort food at the La Jolla’s iconic Verdes El Ranchero (often known simply as El Ranchero or The Ranch). I have to admit that I prefer old school Mexican restaurants and El Ranchero which has been in La Jolla since 1945 is a perfect example of what I love. Cheery, brightly painted furniture and decor and friendly service.
We enjoyed a rich Cheese Quesadilla filled with Monterey Jack cheese and shredded chicken. It was ooey, gooey and a perfect portion for two ladies to split for a lite lunch.
