Robert Irwin Exhibition Reception at Quint Gallery
November 11 @ 5:00 pm

Reception: Saturday, November 11, 5-8 PM
ONE, Quint’s Logan Heights satellite space, will exhibit Light & Space artist Robert Irwin’s #7 x 8′ (Blue Lou 2), a 2015 work which reflects the artist’s ongoing exploration of light, shadow, reflection, and color as material and tools for perception. Blue Lou 2 stems from the artist’s return to a studio practice which experiments with sculpture employing vertically-mounted fluorescent light bulbs wrapped in layers of theatrical gels, while continuing to expand upon his installation practice.
In July of 2020, we opened ONE, a new gallery concept with the intent to spend time with a single, monumental work of art. Robert Irwin’s Zephyr, an unlit work from his ‘drawing‘ series was the inaugural exhibition, and since then, we have mounted over 30 shows at ONE.
The concept of this space is deeply embedded with Irwin’s inquiries into perception, and in light of his recent passing, it is fitting that the next show we had planned for ONE is Blue Lou 2, a lit drawing employing vertically-mounted fluorescent light bulbs wrapped in layers of theatrical gels.
