La Jolla is a very busy place, especially in the summer!  To help ease traffic and access to our village and coastline, The City of San Diego Annual Beach Area Construction Restriction limits non-emergency construction work during the summer period, minimizing impacts on beach area businesses and residents. The summer period is considered to extend from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Sand Diego’s Development Services department explains, “”The restriction affects travel lanes, parking lanes, and pedestrian walkways on streets adjacent to beach areas where merchants could be adversely affected by construction activities and significant roadways entering/exiting the beach areas. The periods of most critical concern are Memorial Day (May 30), Independence Day (July 4), and Labor Day (Sept. 5). Thus, we are requesting that no construction activities be scheduled on the days preceding and immediately following the holiday periods noted above.
