MAD Kick Off.msg

We are thrilled to announce that Enhance La Jolla Maintenance Assessment District (MAD) began work in the Village on October 1, 2019.  John Unbewust, General Manager, explains that the Maintenance Assessment District (MAD) has awarded three initial contracts:

  1. Power-washing sidewalks annually.
  2. Trash pickup on weekends to supplement City service, plus daily litter control.
  3. Landscape maintenance with focus on high-traffic areas such as Prospect Street and Girard Avenue.

As merchants and visitors are aware, overall maintenance in the Village has been deferred for some time so there is quite a bit of work to be done. While the work will not be completed all at once, Enhance La Jolla is hopeful that there will be visible improvements within a few weeks.

We need your help! Merchants can help by clarifying ownership and responsibility of the many planter boxes and pots along Girard and Prospect, as these are private property and not under the jurisdiction of the MAD.

John Unbewust will be out and about, meeting with merchants to discuss the best ways to work together to improve the appearance of our village.
