Board Recruitment

If you’ve ever thought about serving on the La Jolla Village Merchants Association Board of Directors, now is the perfect time.  Self Nomination forms were sent via US Mail to all current members of the Association with instructions on how to self-nominate.  The commitment is minimal and the benefits to both you and your business are BIG!   You’ll be able to have a voice in the future of La Jolla’s Business District from its activities and events to collaborations and policies.  Board members are required to attend monthly meetings as well as serve on at least one additional community or sub-committee.  Total monthly commitment is typically no more than 2 – 4  hours per month.

About the Board of Directors – Election Season is Upon Us!

The election timeline begins in September with a call for Self Nominations and ends in October.  This year self-nominations are due on September 7 and all members of the Business Improvement District are eligible to serve.  The 2022 Election Timeline is posted here with self-nomination and voting instructions.  Self Nominations can be submitted year-round for consideration if board seats are vacated.

The La Jolla Village Merchants Association is guided by a 15-person Board of Directors that sets policies and strategies, under the guidelines set forth by the City of San Diego’s Economic Development Department Operation Manual. These hard-working volunteers are the driving force behind the success of the organization.  The Board meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 4:00 PM at the Riford Library located at 7555 Draper Ave, La Jolla.  All members of the public are invited to attend.  The executive board is comprised of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

Each year our board reviews our bylaws to ensure that we are meeting the mission and goals of a diverse community.  Board members are sworn to serve LJVMA members by taking part in professional development workshops and completing documents to comply with these standards:
